I love those photos taken immediately after loading a 35mm film inside the camera. They are meant to be "empty" shots, just to advance the film, but I'm starting to appreciate a few aspects all of them have in common.
They are very heterogeneous, sometimes portraying quite intimately my life: the coffee place in front of my house, my living room, my father on a Sunday lunch.
I like the fuzzy cut of the white border line, separating the rigth visible side of the image from what potentially it could have been if complete.
My eyes stare at the left empty space but my brain recreates the entire scene, a little bit from memory and very much by imagination.
Looking at those images, I perceive a dominant sense of urge in them. Pictures taken with the unique apparent goal to quite literally move on.
Those are the shots made without thinking, without checking light and shades, timing and proper focus, they are meant to disappear and get forgotten soon.
Clearly those are probably the most spontaneous shots in each film roll, a good enough reason for giving them a deserved short moment of glory inside this little digital space of mine.
